England 121 for 3 (Trott 52*) beat South Africa 119 (Petersen 51, Anderson 5-23) by seven wickets

James Anderson celebrates his dismissal of Hashim Amla, South Africa v England, 4th ODI, Port Elizabeth, November 29, 2009
James Anderson wrecked South Africa's top-order

At St George's Park this morning, however, their lack of balance in the absence of Jacques Kallis was ruthlessly exposed. Graeme Smith was very content to bat first after winning the toss once again, but Andrew Strauss admitted he had been tempted to bowl anyway, on a grassy pitch and under some appreciable cloud-cover. Sure enough, his seam bowlers, led by Anderson, made full use of the conditions.
De Villiers, South Africa's form batsman following his scintillating 121 at Newlands, betrayed his team's uncertainty with a sketchy innings that might have ended on 9 from 19 balls when he drove loosely at Broad but bisected the two men lurking in the covers. Instead, he was nailed lbw in Tim Bresnan's first over of the match, a full-length delivery that Hawkeye suggested would have taken out leg stump.

Jonathan Trott anchored England's run-chase at Port Elizabeth, South Africa v England, 4th ODI, Port Elizabeth, November 29, 2009
Jonathan Trott's second half-century guided England home

The only way South Africa were going to get back into the contest was by claiming quick wickets, but Strauss and Jonathan Trott repelled them with a 74-run stand for the first wicket. It was eventually left to the spinner Botha to make the breakthrough, as he cramped Strauss for room on the cut and pinned him lbw for 32, and Botha made it two in two overs when Kevin Pietersen ended a frantic mini-innings with a clip to midwicket, only moments after being badly dropped by Morkel at fine leg. Collingwood, for once, failed to make an impression as McLaren had him caught behind for 2, but Eoin Morgan joined Trott to guide England to the finish in an unbroken 38-run stand.

New Zealand v Pakistan 1st test score card

New Zealand v Pakistan

A match-winning performance from fast bowler Shane Bond propelled New Zealand to a tense 32-run win against Pakistan in the first Test in Dunedin.

Bond took 3-46 on the final day to add to his first-innings five-wicket haul.

Chasing 251 for victory, Pakistan were reduced to 24-3 before Mohammad Yousuf (41) and Umar Akmal (75) gave them hope, but the departure of Umar with 56 runs still needed ended the fightback.

Sri Lanka vs India 2nd Test Highlights Day 3 2009

Sreesanth: Its really really nice to be back. It feels good. I'm really thankful to the almighty, my family, my team. Hopefully, I'll get to the 140-145 (kph) mark soon and continue the way I'm bowling. I would like to thank Warwickshire for the opportunity to let me play. There is always room for improvement, I'll keep on learning.

India v Sri Lanka at Kanpur, 2nd Test - day 5

India pretty much dominated throughout the test. Batting first, India's top three scored big hundreds as India posted a massive 642. Sreesanth was the wrecker-in-chief yesterday, picking up 5 wickets to give India a mammoth lead. Following-on, SL started terribly losing their first four batsmen in one session. Samaraweera and Mendis delayed the inevitable with a 73-run dogged stand for the 9th wicket. As far as Sri Lanka are concerned, their first win on Indian soil still remains elusive and they need to pull up their socks before the final test. Hang around for the presentation...
This is India's 3rd biggest win in Test cricket and also the 100th Test win

Sreesanth is the Man of the Match for his spell of 5/75 in the first innings.

It was a superb day for Australia who first added close to 160 runs and then came back to pick up 5 wickets. North went on to complete his half century and then Hauritz got his first test fifty later. The Windies flattered to deceive as they lost 4 wickets within 14 runs after putting on 49 runs for the first wicket. Dowlin and Ramdin ended the day with a brave fight but they have a mountain to climb when they come out to bat tomorrow. We will be back with the action from Day 3. Till then, enjoy the cricket from the other hemisphere!

New Zealand v Pakistan at Dunedin, 1st Test - day 4

That's Stumps. An intriguing day's play here at Dunedin. New Zealand started the day by wrapping up the Pakistani innings quickly, with Bond announcing his return to test cricket with a five-wicket haul. They started the second innings disastrously by losing 2 quick wickets with no runs on the board. Again it was Taylor who bailed them out with a patient half century. Once he was run-out, they lost the plot completely and couldn't find any answer to a tremendous spell of fast bowling by Aamer and Asif, who got the ball to reverse both ways. They are now struggling at 147/8 with an overall lead of 244. This match is evenly poised and if the weather holds up we could see another exciting day's cricket tomorrow. Play will resume tomorrow half an hour early at 22:30 GMT. Do join us tomorrow. Until then it's good bye from all of us here.

New Zealand 404 for 8 (Vettori 99, McCullum 78, Gul 2-115) v Pakistan

Daniel Vettori plays through the leg side, New Zealand v Pakistan, 1st Test, Dunedin, 1st day, November 24, 2009
Daniel Vettori became the most prolific No. 8 in the world

Daniel Vettori and Brendon McCullum punished Pakistan on a day on which only 36 overs of play were possible due to rain and bad light in Dunedin. When Vettori bunted Saeed Ajmal for a single minutes into the second session, he beat Shane Warne as the highest run-getter at No. 8. While Warne's 2005 runs came at an average of 19.09 in 91 Tests, Vettori got there in less than half the number of matches with an average of 43.86. Vettori, however, missed becoming the first No. 8 to score back-to-back Tests hundreds by one run.

Once Aamer and Asif were played out, with 41 runs added in 10 overs and both batsmen through to their fifties, it became more about accumulation against Saeed Ajmal and Gul. Vettori was involved in a seventh-wicket 100-run partnership for the sixth time but, just when it seemed the duo was close to inflicting irreversible damage, Gul produced - out of nowhere - a yorker in the last over before lunch to send McCullum back.

After the break, though, persistent rain sent the players in and they returned with hands in pockets deep into the final session. In the 4.5 overs possible before bad light ended play for good, Vettori drove nicely through covers, was again dropped at first slip, before missing out on a century. On 99, Vettori looked to cut a full delivery from Gul, and an edge finally went to hand, making sure Gul remained the only centurion in the match. The catcher in this case, Kamran Akmal, was the record-holder along with Vettori for most centuries for a No. 8, three.
