India vs.Sri Lanka 3rd odi match news,2009
Nagpur: Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said his side was 20 runs short while batting and rued the bowlers failed to get early breakthroughs in the Sri Lankan run chase in the second One-dayer, which the home side lost by three wickets.
"We were happy we got 300 runs it was a par score. We wanted to take a couple of wickets with the new ball to reduce the pressure on the spinners. But that did not happen," he said after the match.
"The first bowlers need to do well in such situations so that spinners could chip in later. The bowlers did not do their job. A couple of wickets and couple of good overs matter here," he added.

Asked India did have a chance to win after Tillakaratne Dilshan, who hit 123, was out, Dhoni said, "When Dilshan was out at that time we need to take wickets. But that did not happen. There were some fielding mistakes also. The kind of start we got while batting I think we could have scored 20 runs more. That could have put more pressure on the Lankans," said Dhoni.

Aussies win third Test controversially by 35 runs
Windies fast bowler Kemar Roach was ruled caught behind off Doug Bollinger by umpire Billy Bowden.
Despite hot-spot technology showing no mark on the edge of Roach''s bat, and replays inconclusive, referral umpire Assad Rauf stuck with Bowden''s original decision as the Windies were dismissed for 323 runs, 36 short of victory on the fifth day at the WACA.
Tailenders Roach and Gavin Tonge bravely attempted to chase down the 51 runs required for victory this morning as they managed 44 runs for the last wicket, but their stand was broken four overs in, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.
A cricinfo report said that Australia needed 21 balls on the last day to win the final Test. The result was virtually assured with the hosts needing a wicket and it came when Roach was ruled caught behind via an umpiring review.
Roach (17) and Tonge (23 not out) started the last day chasing 51 to reach the victory target of 359 after putting on 29 from 30 balls on the fourth evening. Roach played and missed a couple of times in Shane Watson''s first over before Bollinger was taken for five runs by the aggressive Tonge. Tonge then inside-edged Watson for four and drove over mid-off for two before the fielding mood changed when Roach sliced a four over gully.
The game will be remembered mostly for the Man of the Match Chris Gayle''s 70-ball century on the second day, his second hundred of a series which started with a three-day loss but quickly became competitive.
Australian all-rounder Shane Watson was fined 15 per cent of his match fee for his aggressive celebration of Chris Gayle''s wicket.

Bowlers put India on the brink of victory
last update :06 Dec 2009,At tea, Sri Lanka were struggling at 144 for five in the second innings with skipper Kumar Sangakkara batting on an unbeaten 50.
Sri Lanka are still trailing by 189 runs and with five wickets in hand only a miracle can now help them to save the game at the Brabourne Stadium. India declared their first innings at 726 for nine in reply to Sri Lanka's 393.
Resuming at the overnight score of 11 without loss, and 322 runs behind, Sri Lanka lost five wickets, four in the second session, for just 133 runs as Indian bowlers tightened the noose around them. Barring opener Tharanga Pranavitana (54) and Sangakkara none of the Sri Lankan batsmen offered any resistance and had to blame themselves for the situation.
Zaheer Khan was the best of the lot, picking up two wickets while Sreesanth, Harbhajan Singh and Pragyan Ojha got a wicket apiece.
Paranavitana (54) batted fluently Sangakkara for their 90-run partnership for the second wicket. But Sreesanth produced a brilliant late swinging delivery to get rid of Parnavitana triggering a mini collapse.
India lead the series 1-0 and a win here will propel them to the top spot in Test rankings. The historic Brabourne Stadium is hosting its first Test match in 36 years.
West Indies vs Australia 2nd Test Match 2nd day,2009
It's been another entertaining day of Test cricket at Adelaide which started with the strong fight put up by the West Indies lower order batsmen to push them past the 450 run mark. But it was all Australia from that point on as they piled on the runs. Shane Watson and Simon Katich remained unbeaten, having shared a 174 run opening stand.
Watson was left stranded on 96, just four short of his first Test match century which would give his confidence a much needed boost and in cementing his position at the top of the Australian batting order. It will be interesting to see how things shape up on the third day at Adelaide

Pakistan vs New Zealand
After a forgettable second Day, New Zealand have managed to get something for themselves on Day 3. They have finished on 70/3 and need another 335 runs for victory with 2 days to go. Peter Fulton and Ross Taylor have seen off the dying moments of the day and have raised their partnership to 33, both surviving dropped chances.Pakistan started Day 3 at 64/2 and lost only one wicket till Lunch, but then, in the second session, they lost all their remaining seven wickets for just 59 runs.
Once again, New Zealand did not have a great start to their innings and lost McIntosh quickly. Guptill and Flynn steadied the innings a bit but then, Asif removed both to put the hosts in trouble.Things could have been worse had the catches of Fulton and Taylor been taken. But both are out there. Tomorrow could well be the last day of the match, weather permitting.New Zealand need all their remaining batsmen down the order to bat right through to make a fist of this. Join us tomorrow for all the Day 4 action

INDIA, Mumbai : Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh successfully appeals for an LBW (leg before wicket) for Sri Lanka's Tillakaratne Dilshan's wicket on the fourth day of the third Test match between India and Sri Lanka in Mumbai on December 5, 2009
Kumara Sanggakara put up his best show with the bat to score his first Test century in India but sadly even that seems to be not enough to help Sri Lanka avoid defeat in the final Test in Mumbai. The visitors have lost 6 wickets for 274 runs and still trail by 59 runs. The Indians bowled superbly in the second and third session to take five wickets. Sangakkara played a fighting knock and is unbeaten on 133 with Nuwan Kulasekara on 9 off 45 balls. The middle order once again failed pushing Sri Lanka on the back foot. At one stage it even looked like India finishing the game with an innings to spare. However, that might not be the case as the duo has put up a good fight

Bravo, Chanderpaul lift Windies to 336 for six in Adelaide test
Australia won the Test after losing the previous two to fail in a home series for the first time in 17 years, but the swing and consistency of Hilfenhaus was preferred in South Africa and England.
Bollinger did not even make the Ashes squad following the return of Stuart Clark and Lee from injury but with Lee injured again, the 28-year-old''s recent irresistible form has earned him the nod ahead of Clark, 34.
"The things we all love about Doug are his energy and enthusiasm to want to bowl," Ponting said.
"He just loves bowling. He keeps things really simple, which was the beauty about him in India. When we had our backs to the wall, he came in off not a great deal of preparation and just charged in and bowled well," Ponting added.

Asif, Kaneria heroics push New Zealand to door of defeat against Pakistan in final test match on Wellington,Dec 4 2009
The Pakistan team is eyeing a series-levelling victory against New Zealand after establishing a 229-run lead at stumps on day two of the second Test at Basin Reserve in Wellington.
Resuming the day on 161-6, the tourists managed to finish at 264, after wicket keeper Kamran Akmal (70) and fast bowler Umar Gul added 64 runs for the eighth wicket.
New Zealand did not start their reply well, as fast bowler Mohammad Aamer got the wicket of Martin Guptill for a first-ball duck, while paceman Mohammad Asif dismissed Tim McIntosh for four to leave the home side reeling on 5-2.
The Kiwis were eventually dismissed for 99 runs in a mere 36.5 overs, with Asif and spinner Danish Kaneria taking seven wickets between themselves.
During the process the home side lost six wickets for 14 runs in 39 balls, and recorded an all-time low at the venue against Pakistan, relegating the 103 cribbed against a rampant Shoaib Akhtar in the Boxing Day test of 2003, The New Zealand Herald reported.
Ross Taylor and Daniel Flynn registered the largest partnership of 43 runs before Taylor was bowled by Gul.
In the second innings Pakistan scored 64 runs for the loss of two wickets at stumps.
